My how things have changed!

Today I called my sister, Amber, while I was in grocery store to get the recipe for homeade chex mix. When she answered she said she was in Walmart with Aiden getting food for dinner. We had a good laugh cause she was getting a frozen pizza and spending the night at home with Mr. Aiden and I was getting chinese food and spending the night at home with Paxton. Later as I was driving home I thought about how much things have changed, 5 years ago, we probably would have been talking on the phone to discuss what time we were meeting up for drinks at Willies and now here we are talking about our kids and getting excited about a night at home in our sweats!!! My sister completely amazes me in her role as a mother. I can still remember very clearly the night she took that pregnancy test and got the news that would change her life forever. I will not pretend to know what she has been through, as my pregnancy with Pax was very much planned and I was married, but my sister and her boyfriend took on the challenge and have done a wonderful job raising a sweet and charming little boy that our family loves so much and cannot imagine our lives without. He may not have been planned or expected but he is truly our little blessing. Our lives as Mommy's may not be as glamorous or as exciting as our lives pre-baby, but we love every minute of it!! I am so happy to be sharing this exciting time with my sister, I thought it would be a while before any of my siblings jumped on the parenting bandwagon, so I enjoy having someone so close to me understand the ups and downs of being a Mommy. I am so lucky to have such a close family, I love my siblings very much and am so glad my son, and soon to be daughter, will have such great people around them their whole lives.

Cousins!! Aiden and Pax, already lookin ornery and causin trouble!

Swim lessons.

Pax just started swim lessons at the Y, which seems silly since summer is over, but the lessons never worked with my schedule till this month. Really it's just a way to keep him busy and get out of the house for a while. He loves the water, so I knew he would like the lessons, but it IS hard for him to concentrate when all he wants to do is play.

Being dunked.

Learning how to kick his feet and move arms at the same time.

After the lesson is over, he gets to play in the shallow end for a while. Think this is his favorite part :)

Momma's Boy!

Today we had Madi Grace's birthday party at Gymnastics Plus. I was so excited to take Paxton, just KNOWING he would have so much fun!! Well as soon as we got there, Leslie ran up to take Pax to join the other kids (we were a couple minutes late) and Pax FREAKED out and started crying. He didn't stop crying and would not participate for the first 20 min of the party! He would only cling to me and cry. It's so frustrating because he goes to daycare and is used to being around other kids, so I am not sure where this new attachment issue is coming from!! Someone suggested today that maybe he is sensing that his whole world is going to be changing very soon (when sissy arrives) and that is making him regress. I am not sure what it is, but I hope it's just a phase that he outgrows soon, I don't want him to be THAT kid that won't play with other kids and only wants Mommy, plus it makes leaving him harder for me knowing he is upset.

Potty Training

Well we are really crackin down on the potty training since sissy will be here in about 12 weeks!! I realize this is expecting a lot from a little boy who is not even 2 yet, but my theory is that the more they are exposed to it, the less scary it is for them. Last night he went #2 for the first time in his potty! I missed it because I was at a work meeting, but Josh took a pic of it to show me (sure never thought I would get so excited about a picture of poop!) Josh said Pax told him he had to potty so Josh put him on the toilet, and he ended up peeing and pooping! Today he has went potty couple times on it, but won't do it at the sitters house. I am happy with anything at this point, as long as we keep making progress and keep being consistent with him.

Back to Blogging

I am attempting to do the blogging thing again. I am hoping with my new computer, it will be easier to do. So much has changed since my last blog, we are expecting a baby in 11 weeks, sold our house in Manhattan, bought a house in El Dorado and are slowly settling in. I love having all my furniture, decorations and especially all my baking stuff back! I am looking forward to the holiday season that will be here before we know it, and all the baking I plan to do during it. I am not sure how much will get done with a new baby in the house and a 2 year old running around, but I sure will try!
