Sometimes You Just Have to Run in a Parking Lot

It’s been one of those weeks when your mind literally NEVER stops. Instead of waking in the middle of the night thinking:

“bathroom…..water……nigh-nigh”

you think:

“budget……….strategic plan…….halloween……increase by x%…….birthday party……..wages…….contracts…….field trips…….meeting…..agenda…..parent/teacher conference……..STOP THE MADNESS!!”

There just isn’t enough hours in the day, unless I don’t sleep, but don’t even suggest that or I WILL slap you in the face.

I can hear my kids groan as I open the laptop…..AGAIN…..and tell them “one more minute honey, Mommy has to get some work done”….AGAIN.

So tonight, I made the decision…..to put the laptop away for a while………..and let my kids run around in a parking lot.

“Oh you went to Disneyworld when you were a kid? Ha! My Mom took US to parking lots! Top that shiz!!”

AND it was an empty parking lot, duh! It’s not like I took them to Walmart and said “ha! good luck kids!”

(Don’t worry, I have an account set up for future therapy sessions for both of them. On it!!)

But seriously, all these things are taking up my time and the ones that actually DESERVE it (my kids, in case there was any doubt) aren’t getting any of it. So a parking lot it was!

And they thought it was great fun….no cars to watch out for…..just plenty of room to run….and push your stroller….

And pick flowers…….(or weeds….whatever)

And stop running long enough to pose for a picture…..red-faced and all……..

And climb a light-pole!!….

We won’t even mention the state of my household….I think roaches would even find it inhospitable. It’s a disgrace.

And yet here I am……blogging…..when my bathroom has grime an inch thick…….I’m a rebel like that.

So if you’re having “one of those weeks” go to your nearest parking lot and run…..kid tested…..mother approved.

You’re welcome.
